Rosewood Schloss Fuschl in Hof bei Salzburg, open June–October.
Rosewood Schloss Fuschl is a 15th-century lakeside castle on the private shores of Lake Fuschl, roughly 20 kilometres east of Salzburg, with the Salzkammergut Alps rising directly behind it.
The property's most significant event space, the historic Ballroom, accommodates up to 100 guests beneath crystal chandeliers while floor-to-ceiling windows open directly onto the lake — a sightline that few venues in Central Europe can match.
For smaller gatherings, the Glas Salon seats up to 60 in a light-flooded room where the water reads as wallpaper, and the Sisi Pavillon, right at the lake's edge, is purpose-built for ceremonies of up to 10 where the only backdrop is open water and mountain skyline.
The castle's stone architecture, centuries-old proportions, and Rosewood's culinary infrastructure — including customisable menus anchored in seasonal Austrian produce — make it a rare property where the building itself does the heavy lifting without requiring elaborate décor to justify the setting.
Our two-night stay at Rosewood Schloss Fuschl was, quite simply, magical. From the moment we arrived, the level of care and attention from the team was exceptional. Every interaction felt thoughtful, warm and effortless, the kind of service that makes you relax instantly because you know you are in very capable hands. The spa deserves special mention. It is a beautiful, calming space, and the front desk team in particular set the tone with a welcoming, unhurried warmth that made it a genuine sanctuary rather than just another hotel spa. We also loved spending time in the bar. Both the drinks and food were excellent, but what really stood out was the atmosphere. It felt inviting and comfortable without ever losing that sense of quiet elegance. The most memorable moment of our stay, however, came courtesy of the concierge team. We celebrated our son’s first birthday during our visit, and they surprised us with a cake and balloons to mark the occasion. It was an incredibly thoughtful gesture that turned a special day into a lifelong memory for our family. The additional touches in the room, toys, a teepee and books, went far beyond anything we have experienced at any other hotel and showed a level of care that is genuinely rare. From start to finish, this stay felt deeply personal and beautifully considered. Rosewood Schloss Fuschl is no longer just a hotel to us, it is a place tied to a milestone moment in our family’s life. We cannot wait to return.

Asked along the way.
What is the maximum guest capacity for a wedding?+
The largest indoor event space, the Ballroom, accommodates up to 100 seated guests. Across the property's multiple venues — Ballroom, Glas Salon, and Sisi Pavillon — a multi-space celebration can scale to approximately 150–200 guests depending on configuration and whether outdoor lakeside areas are incorporated.
Are exclusive buyouts available?+
Rosewood Schloss Fuschl does offer exclusive-use arrangements for full-property buyouts, which is a natural fit given its castle scale and private lakefront position. Buyout pricing and availability should be confirmed directly with the events team, as configurations vary significantly by season and group size.
When is the best season to marry here?+
Late May through early October is the primary window — Alpine lake conditions are at their most photogenic, temperatures are mild, and the outdoor lake terrace and Sisi Pavillon are fully operable. July and August carry peak demand and should be booked 12–18 months in advance. Winter ceremonies in the Ballroom or Glas Salon are viable and carry a distinct atmosphere with snow on the Alps, though outdoor options are limited.
What's the food and beverage approach?+
The culinary program is built around customisable menus that draw on local Austrian ingredients and seasonal sourcing. The kitchen team works with couples to develop a personalised dining experience — from rehearsal dinner formats through to formal wedding banquets. The property has also hosted Dom Pérignon partnership events, reflecting its baseline for champagne and wine service at the luxury tier.
