Rosewood Mayakoba in Playa del Carmen, open February–May.
Rosewood Mayakoba occupies a private stretch of Caribbean beachfront on the Riviera Maya, where the resort's architecture moves between open-air jungle canopy, lagoon-facing lawns, and white-sand shoreline — giving wedding parties the rare ability to shift registers entirely between events without leaving the property.
The Lagoon Lawn frames ceremonies against emerald water and dense mangrove, with sunset light that moves from gold to copper across the resort gardens; the Casa del Lago Pool Deck adds a different dimension entirely, its underwater lighting working against limestone surfaces and tropical landscaping well into the evening.
La Ceiba Garden & Kitchen anchors the food-and-beverage story: a communal-scale outdoor kitchen built around a towering ceiba tree, lantern-lit and finished in wood and stone, drawing directly on Mayan culinary heritage for menus built from a live chef's garden on the premises.
The adults-only Aquí Me Quedo venue delivers unobstructed sea views with a more intimate, residential scale, while Los Agaves Lawn opens onto a walled private garden suited to cocktail hours or late-night receptions under open sky.
We spent a number of years during the pandemic era visiting Tulum during ski week time and eventually became turned off by how seedy it had become. We had written off the area until our friends invited us to the Rosewood Mayakoba for a birthday celebration. A close drive yet worlds away from Tulum and Cancun airport, it’s the experience you are dreaming of having when visiting the Mayan Riviera. Every aspect of your stay is tailored to perfection. The rooms are beautiful and comfortable with plenty of storage and plunge pools over the river. You can ride a bicycle through the hammock grounds to the nearby resorts or the little makeshift village in the center. Play tennis, relax by the adult pool’s bar, or just wander. You are escorted to your room via water taxi, which you can enjoy again should you wish to visit one of the adjacent hotel’s restaurants. Not that you need to, plenty of dining options are available onsite. The concierge was also wonderful, always available to ensure we were having a great time.

Asked along the way.
What is the maximum guest capacity for a wedding?+
Rosewood Mayakoba does not publish fixed capacities by venue, but the property's scale — multiple distinct indoor and outdoor spaces across a large beachfront resort — comfortably accommodates receptions in the 150–300 guest range, depending on configuration. Ceremonies on the Lagoon Lawn or Beach suit groups from 20 to 200; the enclosed garden spaces like Los Agaves Lawn work well for more intimate events of 30–80. The wedding specialist team will advise on specific setup options during the inquiry process.
Are exclusive buyouts available?+
Full resort buyouts are not standard practice at Rosewood Mayakoba given its size, but individual venues — including Aquí Me Quedo, La Ceiba Garden & Kitchen, the Lagoon Lawn, and Casa del Lago Pool Deck — can be privatized for wedding events. The Founder's Villa, a 16,300-square-foot beachfront estate with a 92-foot private infinity pool, offers a dedicated buyout option for the closest experience to a fully private estate wedding within the property.
When is the best season to marry here?+
The Riviera Maya's dry season runs from November through April, with low humidity, consistent sunshine, and minimal rain — making this the most reliable window for outdoor ceremonies and receptions. December through March sits at the peak of demand, so dates in those months book well in advance. May through October brings warmer temperatures and occasional afternoon showers, though the shoulder months of May, June, and October often offer more availability and comparable weather to the dry season. The Atlantic hurricane season runs June through November, with peak activity in September.
What's the food and beverage approach?+
Rosewood Mayakoba's culinary program treats Mexico's regional diversity as the primary reference point. La Ceiba Garden & Kitchen is the anchor: a live chef's garden supplies the kitchen directly, and menus draw on Mayan ingredients and technique within a communal dining format. Wedding menus are custom-built in collaboration with the culinary team, using sustainable sourcing as a baseline rather than an add-on. The resort holds multiple dining outlets — including La Ceiba — that can be programmed across a multi-day wedding schedule for rehearsal dinners, bridal lunches, and post-ceremony brunches, each with a distinct setting and food identity.
