The Carlyle, A Rosewood Hotel in New York, open June–October.
The Carlyle has anchored the Upper East Side since 1930, and its bones — Art Deco detailing, gold leaf murals, Venetian plaster, and hand-painted Ludwig Bemelmans panels — make every event feel less like a hired room and more like a private institution opened for the occasion.
Ceremonies and receptions are held across five distinct spaces, from the Trianon Suite, a Parisian-inflected salon built for candlelit dinners and dancing, to the Versailles Suite, which brings a more streamlined polish to cocktail hours and seated receptions.
Café Carlyle, the hotel's legendary supper club, carries decades of cabaret history into whatever gathering unfolds within it — the sightlines are theatrical, the atmosphere deliberately performative.
Bemelmans Bar, with its floor-to-ceiling murals and deep banquette seating, operates as one of New York's most recognizable rooms, making it a natural setting for a rehearsal dinner or post-ceremony gathering that requires no further decoration.
Absolutely wonderful stay! I stayed for only one night duirng what appeared to be the coldest week of the year in New York, the staff at this hotel could not be warmer. They very generously gave me a complimentary upgrade to a suite that was absolutely marvelous. Beautiful furniture, plenty of space, a bed that was a bit lower to the ground (which I loved), and one of the best showers I've ever experienced in a New York hotel! I am not someone who stays at these types of hotels very often, so this special "treat myself" stay became even more special! I will surely be back and would recommend this to anybody looking to indulge in luxury while in New York.

Asked along the way.
What is the maximum guest capacity for a wedding?+
The Carlyle does not publish specific seated capacities for each space, but the combination of its five event venues — Trianon Suite, Versailles Suite, Café Carlyle, Bemelmans Bar, and Dowling's — supports gatherings ranging from intimate ceremonies of 10 to 20 guests up to receptions of approximately 150 to 200 guests depending on configuration. The wedding team will advise on room combinations for larger headcounts. Contact the property directly for precise layout options.
Are exclusive buyouts available?+
Individual venue spaces can be reserved exclusively for private events. A full hotel buyout is theoretically possible given The Carlyle's boutique scale — it has 190 rooms and suites — but would require direct negotiation with the hotel's group and events team. The property is better positioned as a partial buyout for wedding room blocks anchored around the Presidential Suite or other suites on upper floors.
When is the best season to marry here?+
The Carlyle is an urban hotel with fully interior event spaces, so it operates year-round without weather dependency. That said, spring (April through early June) and fall (September through November) are the most popular periods in New York for celebrations — temperatures are comfortable, the city is active, and Central Park two blocks away is at its best for portraits. December carries strong atmosphere for evening events. Summer weekends in July and August are typically the most available and sometimes carry better rate flexibility.
What's the food and beverage approach?+
The Carlyle's culinary team creates custom menus for each event rather than working from fixed packages. Menus are developed in consultation with the couple and can reflect specific dietary preferences, cultural traditions, or seasonal ingredients. The hotel's existing restaurant and bar program — including Dowling's and Bemelmans Bar — informs the broader F&B sensibility. Pricing is structured on a per-head basis for catered events; alcohol and service charges are generally itemized separately. The hotel recommends confirming all inclusions and minimums directly with the catering coordinator.
