We stayed here for our honeymoon and chose it because it was advertised as an adults-only, peaceful retreat. The rooms are lovely, the restaurant is really nice, and the area and setting are beautiful, so we were excited for a relaxing stay. Unfortunately, on our last full day there were several very young screaming/splashing children around the pool, which changed the atmosphere and wasn’t what we’d expected. There were also far more people around the pool than the number of rooms on site, and we later learned the pool is open to external guests — something that isn’t made clear when booking and felt misleading if you’re expecting a private guest experience. Some tourists visiting the restaurant for lunch also accessed the pool area for photos, and a few wandered through the restaurant without even dining to take photos of the view, which felt inappropriate. While it’s good that the adults-only reference has since been removed on several websites, this was of no benefit to us at the time as guests. When we raised this during our stay, nothing was done at the time. At check-out, the response was a bottle of wine comped from our dinner bill, which felt minimal given it was our honeymoon. The follow-up emails afterwards also didn’t make us feel fully heard. Out of the four places we stayed during our honeymoon, the customer service here felt the least attentive. Breakfast was also disappointing compared to the other hotels we visited — the buffet pastries didn’t feel or taste fresh, the cooked eggs took a long time to arrive, and the breakfast room inside was quite dark and uninspiring. It would've been nice to have had the chance to sit outside on the terrace for breakfast. It’s a lovely place and well located if you want to stay near San Gimignano, but overall the experience didn’t match how it’s marketed, and the way our concerns were handled left us feeling let down.
