A Relais & Châteaux castle wrapped in ivy and quiet, it has the feel of a private house that happens to come with a Michelin kitchen and a healing spa — the kind of place you take over entirely and call your own for a long weekend.
The full-castle buyout hands you all twenty-four suites, the panoramic terrace, the heated pool, and fifty thousand square metres of park, with nobody but your own people inside the walls.
Weddings here are small by design — festivities for up to a hundred — and unhurried: a ceremony on the lawn with the valley falling away below, dinner under Chef Egon Heiss at Restaurant Prezioso, a nightcap in the library, and an arrival, if you like, by vintage Fiat 500 or 1960s Volvo with a chauffeur at the wheel.
My wife and I recently stayed at Castel Fragsburg to celebrate our anniversary. The staff was kind and attentive, the food was incredible, and views are beautiful. Every detail was well thought out, and the overall experience was 5 stars. This place is a hidden gem and we will be back in the future.

Castel Fragsburg hosts intimate destination weddings for up to 100 guests. The castle keeps its own furniture for up to 50 seated guests, and additional rentals can be arranged for larger celebrations.
Can you book the entire castle for a wedding?+
Yes. The exclusive full-castle buyout is €20,000 per day (including VAT) with a two-night minimum. It gives you private use of all 24 suites, the panoramic terrace, the 50,000 m² park, the Castellum Natura spa, the heated outdoor pool and saunas, and a daily Breakfast Royale.
Where do wedding guests stay?+
The castle has 24 individually designed suites — from Deluxe Doubles and Junior Suites to the Suite Royale, the Adlerhorst Tower Suite, and the Soul Luxury Suite — all included in the buyout. The Fragsburg team can also source additional rooms nearby for larger guest lists.
What is the dining like?+
Food is a centrepiece. The Michelin-starred Restaurant Prezioso and the Gault-Millau-listed Orangerie are both led by Chef de Cuisine Egon Heiss, with the Fragsburg bar, library lounge, and rose-garden pavilion for the hours in between.
How do guests get to Castel Fragsburg?+
The castle sits above Merano in South Tyrol, northern Italy. Most international guests fly into Venice, Munich, or Milan and transfer by car — roughly two and a half to four hours through the mountains, which the desk arranges. Merano also has its own train station a short drive below the castle.
