Wedding website RSVPs: meals, plus-ones and multi-day events

Set up wedding RSVPs by event, collect meal choices and dietary needs, define plus-ones, and check each guest’s invitation before sharing the link.

At a glance

Build the guest list and event invitations before opening online RSVPs. Collect a reply for each event that needs its own headcount, then ask the invited people for meal choices and any permitted companion details.

Start with who is invited to what

A wedding-level yes does not explain whether someone will join Friday drinks or Sunday brunch. Write down the events, their audiences and the counts each supplier needs. Use groups for a shared audience and review individual invitations for exceptions. Keep a family dinner out of the schedule of a guest invited only to the ceremony.

Aisle supports guest groups and per-event invitations and replies. Its guest site shows the schedule relevant to the guest. This is the organizer setup guide; guests looking for how to answer an invitation should use the guest RSVP guide.

Collect the answers you will actually use

FieldAsk forReview before the supplier deadline
AttendanceAccept or decline for each invited eventUnanswered events and changed replies
MealOne available option where a meal choice is requestedMissing choices among attending guests
Dietary needsRestriction and a useful noteDetails requiring direct caterer confirmation
CompanionName within the allowed invitationWhether the companion is invited to the same events
TravelOnly details needed for your arrangementsA reply does not itself reserve transport

Aisle’s RSVP flow supports meal choices and dietary information, and a companion field when the organizer has granted an allowance. Entering a dietary restriction is not a guarantee that a caterer can accommodate it: confirm the arrangement directly and make sure the guest has an answer.

An illustrative weekend RSVP plan

EventExample audienceResponse you need
Friday welcomeAll invited guestsAttendance for the venue count
Saturday ceremony and receptionWedding inviteesAttendance and the requested meal choice
Sunday brunchGuests invited to brunchSeparate attendance before the booking deadline

This is a planning example, not a default invitation list. One person may attend Saturday and skip Sunday. Treat unreturned replies as pending rather than assuming that silence means a decline. If an event has its own paid ticket, check that event’s reply and payment status separately; a general wedding acceptance is not proof of payment.

Set your reply deadline early enough to resolve missing answers before the earliest supplier deadline. Explain the date on the site and invitation, then use targeted guest updates for people who still need to answer.

Test a real invitation shape before opening replies

  • Check a guest invited to every public event and one with a restricted schedule.
  • Check an invitation with no companion allowance and one with a permitted companion.
  • Confirm that each meal question lists the options your caterer has agreed to offer.
  • After a trusted guest submits their own response, review the saved event and meal answers in your guest list.
  • Give guests a contact for corrections after supplier deadlines. Changing a form does not notify a caterer automatically.

Prepare your contacts with the guest import guide and make the invitation wording clear with website FAQ examples.

Common questions

Can I collect separate replies for a multi-day wedding?+

Yes. Aisle supports per-event RSVPs. Set each event’s invitations and review replies separately for the counts you need.

Can guests add unlimited plus-ones?+

No. Aisle’s companion entry depends on the allowance the organizer grants. Decide the invitation first, then collect the permitted person’s name.

Are meal choices and dietary requirements the same field?+

No. A selected meal tells the caterer which offered option to prepare. A dietary requirement may need further discussion and a confirmed accommodation.

Should a missing RSVP count as a decline?+

No. Keep it pending and follow up. A clear decline is different from an invitation that has not been answered.

Does an RSVP reserve a room?+

No. Treat the room booking and payment workflow separately, and tell guests which steps confirm their accommodation.
