We don't often feel inclined to leave a bad review but our final 10 minutes ruined the one night stay and was the thing that pushed us to be completely honest. For a hotel with it's rating, they are missing a lot of basic services you would expect. The staff are either fantastic or rude. Nothing in-between. Those who are great are charismatic and friendly and we would imagine they have to work harder to make up for the other half who are rude. The spa is dirty, with slippery benches in the steam room. The steam room smells bad too, like damp oats. One of the treatment showers is also dirty and in disrepair with clear signs of disrepair in the ceiling and showerhead. Massage rooms had oily floors. For the amount of people staying, the spa does not accomodate the amount of guests. One of the spa workers was rude when we asked for larger towels, not looking up from her phone. (The two masseuse we had in the morning were wonderful and one of the positives from the stay). Instant ice tea is served hot in the spa in children's plastic cups. No water. Daytime the music is also....not suitable for a hotel that brands itself as a spa and wellness retreat. Whilst I personally enjoy pop hits from the early 2000s to today, it's not the atmosphere you'd expect when you come out of a relaxing massage. There was no tea or coffee facilities in our room. If you ask for one outside of breakfast or lunch hours, you will be treated as an inconvenience despite not been near a bar and having any other option. After we checked out, we had a half hour wait for our taxi so we wanted to have a coffee. It was after breakfast but tea making facilities were out so helped ourselves to the SELF SERVE tea. A staff member came out to tell us that we should have asked for it and we were not allowed to help ourselves to the, again, SELF SERVE tea. When we then collected our bags, we were then charged for said self serve. Despite paying for all inclusive, you are still charged coperto for dinner. There were sticky white marks on our bathroom floor. Ick. The hairdryer worked intermittently and was a bit dodge. We bumped into other guests in the hotel and they noticed us carrying the hairdryer that we borrowed from reception and they said that their hairdryer was also broken. The bottle opener in the mini fridge is also chained down......what are they presuming of their guests if they are so sensitive about a bottle opener? Having read recent reviews, the good ones all seem to be from local guides and so we expect that these are staff members who have been told to leave reviews because the local guides and other guests reviews are significantly different. I wish we had paid more attention to the reviews before booking. The good stuff is that the dinner is really good and the chef and our waiter were great. The hotel is beautiful and there is a friendly cat who visits at breakfast which was a highlight. I'd recommend going to the hotel for a nice dinner. Anything else, not worth it. We've stayed in hotels which were less stars, half the price and the service and value for money were exceptionally better. Last words - sorely disappointing and not a reflection of Italian hospitality. Avoid and save your money. First time in my life, I've felt inclined to ask for money back.
