Villa Cozzano in Castiglione del Lago, open June–November.
A sixteenth-century villa built in 1543 and held by the Lazzerini family ever since, nearly five hundred years of single-family stewardship, which you feel in every worn stone of the courtyard.
The estate sits on a hilltop just over the Tuscan border near Lake Trasimeno and Cortona, thirty hectares of sunflower fields, olive groves and vineyards, with a pool, a farm-to-table kitchen, and a courtyard “piazza” where the long wedding dinners happen.
Six suites in the villa sleep the core group of around twenty-five.
It is the under-the-radar value of our featured list: full exclusive-use weekends at a fraction of the marquee-name buyouts, best at fifty to eighty guests, with couples bringing their own planner.
What a magical stay. We stayed at Villa Cozzano for our wedding anniversary & it was the perfect stay to celebrate. I love the rustic feels all through the villa. It is a very small, quaint spot & that's what makes it wven more special. They have activities (at extra cost) which you can book during your stay & I highly recommend you take advantage. We did the movie night & it was something from well a movie 😅 Soo cozy & you get to choose any movie of your choice. The breakfast in the morning was so nice, they have a good spread of pastries, yogurt & then you have a few items you can pick from an ala carte. Their dinner is delicious. We ate in the Villa two nights & neither dissapointed. Had one of the most delicious tiramisu & they make their own Wine & Olive oil so that was on repeat ♥️ We stayed in two different rooms: Poggio Gabbiano 1 which has a beautiful view of the vineyard & the most stunning sunsets but our favorite was La Scoula, it is more spacious, the bathroom is a bit bigger & you also have a great little terrace area to enjoy a drink or morning coffee. The service in Villa Cozzano is 20/10, they are very friendly & it is a very personalized touch as there are only 6 rooms in the entire villa. We did visit Cortona during our stay & it was about a 20 min drive. Highly rec & cannot wait to be back.
