Grand Hotel BaiaVerde

DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL IF YOU ARE STAYING IN CATANIA!!! I wish I read this review before choosing my hotel. We had a negative experience from the very beginning. We arrived at the hotel a little early, as well as other people around us. It seemed as though everyone around us was able to get into their room early. For us, they told us the room should be ready around noon, so we waited, but it wasn’t until 1:30pm that they finally told us it was ready because they saw we had a baby and “made it a priority” (you saw we had the baby when we first arrived though). Then, the second room for my parents wasn’t ready until exactly 3pm because they were “still cleaning the room.” Meanwhile, the two rooms were right next door to each other and when we went to the one room that was ready at 1:30pm, not a single person went in or out of the second room that was “still being cleaned.” So we’re not sure why the room was clearly ready but they wouldn’t give it to us until 3pm. We asked for a crib for our room and they set up the sofa bed instead so we had to waste more time asking them for a crib (multiple times). The food at the restaurant was horrible. We went for dinner and ordered paella and it tasted like fried rice. The AC in one of the rooms would not work and kept shutting off, so it appeared to be controlled by the hotel. My room was above the restaurant and it was after midnight one night (restaurant closes at midnight) and people were still sitting outside making SO much noise, you would think they were in the room with us. It kept myself, my wife, and my baby awake. I tried calling the front desk to complain and no one answered. I had to go downstairs myself and complain to the person at the front desk and he said that he “would try” to ask the people to be more quiet. Firstly, they never got quiet. Secondly, if it was after hours of the restaurant, it doesn’t make sense that they couldn’t ask the people to be more quiet, especially considering the time of night it was. Finally, when I went to check out, the hotel tried to charge both rooms for items missing from the mini bar and we had to tell them that we didn’t use anything and get them to remove it. Long story long, DO NOT STAY HERE. You can see how many issues we had, so make your life easier and find a better hotel. This one was just awful all around.
