Castello di Guarene
Guarene · Castle
Count Carlo Giacinto Roero began rebuilding the medieval manor above Guarene in 1726 and turned it into a baroque summer residence, and in 2016 it opened as a fifteen-room hotel with a museum of its own history still inside it. It sits on the ridge between the Roero and the Langhe, with formal Italian gardens on the terrace and the UNESCO vineyards running away below: Alba and the truffle market are eight kilometres south, Barolo and Barbaresco within half an hour. For a wedding the Orangerie takes up to 140, the state rooms handle up to about 90, and the gardens hold the ceremony with the hills behind it. Piedmont is the least booked of Italy’s serious wedding regions, which is the argument for it. Autumn here is the season rather than the shoulder, because the vendemmia and the white truffle run from late September into November and the food is the best in Italy. The limitation is the room count: fifteen keys means most guests stay in Alba or the wine villages nearby.

Antico Borgo Poggitazzi
Terranuova Bracciolini, Toscana · Hotel
Guests arrive at a working Tuscan farm where cypress-lined driveways and stone farmhouses create an immediate sense of arrival in wine country. The 52-acre Fattoria di Poggitazzi operates as a hotel and event space, meaning your wedding party stays where the celebration happens, no transfers, no logistics. Throughout the weekend, guests experience the rhythm of rural Tuscany: morning espresso on terraces overlooking vineyards, afternoon wine tastings in the cantina, evening dinners in converted barn spaces with exposed beams and terracotta floors.

Schloss Prösels
Völs am Schlern · Castle
The real thing: a castle built around 1200 by the lords of Völs and made a Renaissance showpiece by Leonhard von Völs, Governor of the Adige, never hotelified, still a public cultural monument at the foot of the Schlern massif in the Seiser Alm region. Couples rent the actual castle: the arcaded courtyard, the chapel, the panoramic Dolomites terrace, the fireplace room where civil ceremonies are performed, and the Knight’s Hall seating 120 for a gala dinner. Saturday weddings get the castle for the full day, with music until around two in the morning; catering comes from a shortlist of authorised regional partners, and guests lodge in Seiser Alm hotels nearby. Open May through October, the most attainable castle on our Dolomites list, and the most authentic.
