Amirandes is the Cretan resort for the wedding that is genuinely large. Grecotel quotes celebrations of up to 300 guests here, with six meeting rooms and a run of indoor and outdoor spaces around lagoons and sea-view terraces, plus ten restaurants and bars on the property. Ceremonies happen either at the resort’s VIP Beach or in its chapel, which covers both the barefoot version and the Orthodox one without leaving the grounds. The setting is a long stretch of the north coast at Gouves, 25 minutes east of Heraklion, built around an Olympic-sized seawater pool. This is not a boutique property and it does not pretend to be: it is a full-service resort with the staff, the kitchens and the parking to absorb a three-hundred-person weekend, which is exactly the thing Santorini cannot do at any price. If your list is under fifty and you want intimacy, look elsewhere on this page. If it is over a hundred and half of them are flying in with children, this is the one that works.
