Bambu Indah opened in 2005 as eleven of those houses plus a set of bamboo structures the Hardys designed and built themselves, including two open tree houses and the Copper House.
Nothing here is a standard hotel room.
Swimming pools are filtered by plants rather than chlorine, the Sacred River Trek drops through the jungle to the Ayung, and the whole place has the feeling of a project rather than a property, because it still is one.

We went for a lunch in Bambu Indah. Authentic Indonesian food but I feel like the options are less than what I expected. The ambiance is top tier with river and natural spring view.

Eleven restored antique Javanese teak bridal houses, moved from Java and rebuilt on the ridge, plus bamboo houses and two open bamboo tree houses. There is no standard room category, so a room block here means matching each house to the guests in it.

Flat shoes. The paths through the property are steep, unpaved, and unlit in places, and they connect the houses, the pools and the ceremony areas. It is part of what makes the place, but it needs telling to guests before they pack.

The Sacred River Trek runs from the property down through the jungle to the Ayung River, and the natural pools are open all day. The Green School, which the Hardys founded, is nearby and arranges visits for groups with notice.
