Florence’s Belle Époque wedding villa, built 1865–68 by Baron Gustave Oppenheim for his bride and later the residence of Empress Eugénie, widow of Napoleon III, who made it one of the most fashionable salons in Europe — Debussy played here.
Restored and reopened in 2010, it holds the rarest thing in the city: a complete Belle Époque interior, from the Moorish smoking room to the Mirror Room’s gilded panels, wrapped in a centuries-old walled park with a heated pool, ten minutes above the Boboli Gardens.
Weddings run from Mirror Hall dinners of around ninety to garden receptions near a hundred and fifty, and the whole villa — some forty-four rooms across the main house, the converted stables and the garden guesthouse — takes exclusive use with a two-night minimum, sleeping close to a hundred.
My stay was absolutely amazing. From the warm welcome from Gabriel to the daily attention details of the staff. I recommend and will always stay at Villa Cora when I visit florence. I had the best 30th birthday ever. The staff made all the difference.
