I was very disappointed with my stay at Vayam. I travelled 7 hours from Bali specifically to relax, since there isn’t much to do on this island other than enjoy the peace and the beach. When I arrived, I was told there were construction works from 9am to 5pm. As a result, there was noise all day, both on the beach and inside the room, which completely defeats the purpose of coming here. The yoga shala was also closed due to renovations. This was one of the main reasons I chose this hotel. I would have really appreciated being informed beforehand, so I could have canceled or booked the hotel next door instead. Considering the price, this is something that should absolutely be communicated. The room itself is quite basic, especially compared to other places in Indonesia for a much lower price. You expect to pay more here for tranquility and a beautiful setting, but those conditions were not there. I honestly felt like I paid a lot for nothing. The restaurant is expensive and not very good. The portions are tiny and not generous at all. I ordered a dish that was supposed to be made with truffle oil, but you could only taste a plain, bland cream, not truffle. As for breakfast, the juices were good, but the portions are extremely small. If you choose something sweet, for example, you get two very small pancakes with not much flavor. The island itself is not as charming as expected, as there is quite a lot of trash around, which takes away from the experience — especially after such a long journey to get here. To be fair, the staff is kind and friendly, and I appreciated the free kayaks and paddle boards — that was a nice touch. But overall, the stay did not match the promises, nor the price.

Perfect! We stayed for 2 nights with our three boys in a beachfront bungalow and it was magical. The beds are super comfy and the rooms are immaculately clean, the food from the restaurant is varied and tasty and the included breakfast great value. The location is stunning, especially sunrise. We took a snorkel trip to Gili Gede and Gili Layar on the hotel boat and that was a great price and one of our best snorkel experiences after 9 months in Asia. Finally, the staff are warm and welcoming and service is top notch - incredibly friendly and fun with our children.
