The hotel at Château La Coste, a 600-acre organic vineyard 15 km north of Aix-en-Provence that doubles as one of Europe’s serious sculpture parks. Buildings by Tadao Ando, Frank Gehry, Renzo Piano, Jean Nouvel and Oscar Niemeyer sit in the vines alongside work by Louise Bourgeois, Richard Serra and Ai Weiwei, and a wedding here gets the run of them. Villa La Coste itself is 28 suites, each with a terrace and most with a private pool, plus a Michelin-starred restaurant and a spa. The estate has indoor rooms from 20 to 250 square metres and outdoor ground that can take far larger numbers, so the format is genuinely open: a dinner for 30 in the Ando pavilion, or a party in the vines. The caveat is that Château La Coste is open to the public every day and the art is the reason people come. Exclusive use of the whole estate is not the default, so agree early which parts of the walk stay open on your day.

A 16th-century bastide built into the cliff below Gordes, so its terraces drop away in stages and every one of them looks south across the Luberon. Airelles took the hotel on in 2021 and runs it at palace level: 40 rooms and suites, a Michelin-starred restaurant, a spa cut into the rock, and La Maison de Constance, a five-bedroom villa with its own pool at the foot of the garden. Weddings take the hanging gardens, which hold roughly 200 for a standing drink and 120 seated for dinner, with the salons inside as the rain plan. Exclusive use of the estate is offered and most couples take it, because those terraces are also where every other guest in the hotel has breakfast. Two things to plan around. Gordes is one of the Plus Beaux Villages de France, which means narrow one-way lanes and no coach access at the door, so transfers run in cars and minibuses. And the nearest airport with long-haul connections is Marseille, an hour and a quarter away. This is one of the most expensive addresses in Provence and it prices like it.

Built in the 19th century as a private Mediterranean estate, Domaine du Mont Leuze has been restored to showcase its original architectural grandeur while accommodating modern celebrations. Perched above Villefranche-sur-Mer with panoramic views of the French Riviera coastline, the estate spans manicured gardens and elegant indoor spaces suitable for ceremonies and receptions. The venue maintains its historic character, including period stonework and vine-covered terraces, while providing contemporary amenities for hosting up to 150 guests.

Domaine Du Petit Malherbes is an 18th-century Camargue estate that has been thoughtfully restored to preserve its historical character while accommodating modern celebrations. Originally built as a traditional Provençal farmhouse, the property retains original stonework and regional architectural details. Set on expansive grounds near Aimargues, it offers both indoor and outdoor ceremony spaces with authentic rural charm.

A former coaching inn on the escarpment above Épernay, rebuilt in 2018 as a low glass and stone hotel that steps down the hillside. Every one of the 47 rooms looks out over the Marne valley and the Premier Cru vineyards of Hautvillers, where Dom Pérignon is buried, and the roof carries about 1,400 square metres of terrace including a rose garden used for drinks. This is a small-format venue and worth being clear about: the largest interior event room seats 60, the gastronomic restaurant takes 40, and the terraces hold around 100 for a standing reception. A wedding of 200 does not fit here. A wedding of 50 fits better than almost anywhere in France, because the whole hotel is effectively yours and the view does the work. Épernay and the Avenue de Champagne are ten minutes down the hill, Reims is half an hour, and Paris is an hour and a half by car or 45 minutes by TGV to Reims plus a short drive.

The 1870 hotel at the end of the Cap d’Antibes, 22 acres of pines on a private peninsula, with the Eden-Roc pavilion out on the rocks and a saltwater pool blasted into the cliff below it. It is the most photographed hotel on the coast and the one that can actually take a large wedding: 115 rooms and three villas, the Iles de Lérins ballroom at up to 200 seated, a glasshouse that goes to 350 banquet-style, and a pool deck that holds 450 for drinks. Without a full buyout the ceiling is 150, because that is what the ballroom holds if rain moves you inside. With one, the hotel quotes 250 to 300. The Eden-Roc Lounge on top of the pavilion takes an intimate ceremony of up to 100 with the sea all around it. Most weddings here run 60 to 100. Oetker Collection runs the property and the events office is in-house. Nice airport is 30 to 45 minutes, traffic depending.

A white Belle Époque hotel from 1908 standing alone at the tip of the Cap-Ferrat peninsula, in 14 acres of pines with the Mediterranean on three sides. Four Seasons runs it, and at 74 rooms and suites it is small enough that a full buyout is a real option rather than a fantasy. The set piece is Club Dauphin, the pool and beach club at the bottom of the cliff, reached by funicular: an infinity pool cut into the rock with the sea behind it, and a covered terrace that seats about 100 for dinner. The hotel takes up to 200 seated across its spaces. Ceremonies happen on the lawns above the sea. The honest caveat is cost. Cap-Ferrat is the most expensive stretch of the French coast, French Riviera venue hire was reported at €40,000 to €120,000 for a peak-summer Saturday in 2026, and this address sits at the top of that band before a single plate of food. Nice airport is 25 minutes away, which is the closest a venue of this class gets.
