We attended a wedding at the Convento San Giuseppe, and having read online reviews, I expected a bit more creativity and attention to detail, particularly regarding dietary restrictions. The reception began in the garden with Vermentino wine and pears, and some appetizers. Unfortunately, the mini pies and filled pastries lacked labels indicating their contents. Since I have dietary restrictions, I had to approach a waiter and inquire about vegan options on their menu. While a wait ensued, I eventually found something to eat. However, there was still a sense of disappointment, as I believe the bride and groom requested vegan options, but the staff seemed unaware. Once seated at our table, the service improved, though it wasn't exceptional. The protein I received was unflavored tofu, seemingly straight from the package and plated with tomato sauce. Did the chef perhaps believe it could be seasoned in mere seconds? Overall, I left feeling disappointed. While I've always heard positive things about the Convento San Giuseppe, I believe a respectable establishment in 2024 should be able to accommodate various dietary needs.
