Castello di Modanella stands apart in Tuscany by offering an actual functioning castle hotel rather than a converted villa, with 16th-century architecture and working wine estate on the grounds. Located in Rapolano Terme's countryside, it provides both ceremony and guest accommodation within a single property, eliminating the coordination challenges of split venues. The castle's documented wine production and thermal spa proximity create a multi-sensory experience unavailable at typical destination wedding hotels.

While the photos are beautiful, it does not tell the story of the visit. We actually left a day early because the bed and sofa bed were so uncomfortable. The pool was beautiful from a distance, but lots of mold in the tiles told me it was not well maintained. The outdoor furniture was old and mismatched - not in charming way, but in the way that fingers got pinched two times. There are several connected properties in the area, and we were not at the “castle” but 1-2 km away in a nice stone building. But inside it was dated and missing kitchen supplies. Check in was disorganized, and set the tone for the stay. When I asked if something could be done to make the 30 year old sofa bed I was sleeping on more comfortable, I was basically told there was nothing more to be done. We ended up leaving a day early (though we paid the whole stay) just to have a more comfortable stay. If you are so keen on the view and location and don’t mind paying 3 star prices for a 1.5 star experience, this may be for you!

Beautiful location. Unwelcoming owner who didn’t even show us to the room, we had to wonder around the property for 30 minutes trying to figure out where to go. No AC in the rooms, only a small fan, and it gets really hot in the summer. Cleaning ladies make your bed daily but don’t do anything else, don’t take the trash or dirty cups either. Nice red&white wine in the room is a nice touch.

Awesome experience and great food. We were their to test drive a car at a near by track and we stayed here for two nights. Big large rooms with a common area and kitchen, food was excellent and the owner was very very warm and welcoming. It was very cold -1 degrees at night and the heating worked perfectly well and so did the hot water.Would love to plan a trip again
