Castello Di Leonina Relais in Asciano, open JuneSeptember.

Castello Di Leonina Relais occupies a medieval fortification originally constructed in the 13th century as a defensive stronghold in Tuscany's Val d'Orcia region.

The structure underwent comprehensive restoration to transform it into a luxury hotel while preserving its original stone architecture and period features.

Today, it operates as a 4.3-star venue combining historic authenticity with modern hospitality amenities across its grounds.

January 3rd – extremely cold stay. Our stay at Castello di Leonida was unacceptable. There was no hot water and no heating for the entire duration of our stay, in the middle of winter (4°C, rain, high humidity). Staff were repeatedly informed but showed no professionalism or willingness to help, responding with excuses like “it’s not my responsibility.” The room we were given was not the one we booked or paid for. We had reserved a spacious, two-level room, but were placed in a small, dark, cold room. When we complained, we were told that “the photos are only indicative” and that the hotel was fully booked. This is misleading advertising. On arrival, my partner was treated with indifference, told the room wasn’t ready, and asked to leave our luggage in the corridor—no luggage storage, and suggested to walk around or sit in the garden in cold rain, supposedly at a “luxury” castle. A very disappointing experience. Not worth the price and far from luxury.
