Who should be listed as hosting on a wedding invitation?

Whoever is issuing the invitation — traditionally the bride’s parents, but today it is just as often both families, the couple themselves, or “together with their families”, which credits everyone and names no one. The useful rule: the names at the top are welcoming the guests, not settling the bill, so list whoever you want doing the welcoming.

What is the difference between “honour of your presence” and “pleasure of your company”?

“The honour of your presence” is reserved, by long convention, for a ceremony held in a house of worship — and takes the British spelling, honour. “The pleasure of your company” is the correct request for a ceremony anywhere else: a villa, a garden, a city hall. Both belong only on formal invitations; warmer registers simply say “invite you”.

How do we word the invitation with divorced parents hosting?

List each parent on their own line, never joined by “and” — the joining word is reserved for married couples. The mother’s name traditionally comes first; if a parent has remarried, list them with their spouse on that same line (for example “Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Shaw”, then “Mr. Jonathan Reyes” below). The rest of the invitation reads as usual.

Can we skip naming hosts entirely?

Yes. “Together with their families” — followed by the couple’s names — credits everyone and names no one, which is exactly why it has become the modern default. It works whether one family is paying, both are, or neither is, and it spares you every ordering decision.
