Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild in Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, open June – September.
A pink Italianate villa built for Béatrice de Rothschild in 1912 on the narrowest part of the Cap-Ferrat peninsula, with the sea visible on both sides from the front steps.
Nine gardens fill the ten thousand square metres around it, laid out as a French formal garden, then Spanish, Florentine, stone, Japanese, exotic, Provençal and a rose garden, with the main parterre built to look like the deck of a ship.
It belongs to the Académie des Beaux-Arts and works as a museum by day and a private venue by night, which is what makes it available at all.
Capacity is real: 230 seated inside and up to 300 outside, or 350 across the site for a standing reception.

Asked along the way.
How many guests can Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild seat?+
Up to 230 for a seated dinner inside and up to 300 seated outside in the gardens, with about 350 across the site for a standing reception. That makes it one of the few Riviera venues that can take a genuinely large wedding.
Is there accommodation at the villa?+
No. The villa is a museum and has no bedrooms. Guests stay in Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, Beaulieu-sur-Mer or Villefranche, all within about fifteen minutes by car, and Nice is half an hour along the coast.
What does a wedding at Villa Ephrussi cost?+
Private hire alone was reported at just under €100,000, and planners quote from about €230,000 all in for 70 to 80 guests. Because there is no hotel behind it, catering, furniture, lighting and staff are all additional and all brought in.
When is the villa available for a wedding?+
It opens to the public as a museum during the day, so weddings run in the evening once visitors have left. That sets the earliest start time and it moves with the season, so confirm the handover hour before you print anything.
Can we hold a legal ceremony at the villa?+
No. A legally binding marriage in France happens at a mairie, so couples marry at the town hall and hold a symbolic ceremony in the gardens. Foreign couples usually complete the legal step at home and treat the villa day as the wedding.
