La Sovana was nothing short of a dream. A place where the second those property gates open, you know and feel like you've arrived in Tuscany which is exactly what we wanted as first timers. My sisters and I came to La Sovana late May to celebrate my 40th birthday. The grounds and views are stunning. We were greeted by Fiorella, who was the most wonderful, kind-hearted and fun spirited staff member of any hotel we've ever stayed at. She checked us right in, showed us to our room and prepared us a crisp, complimentary glass of their white wine with a meat and cheese board that we enjoyed poolside. Fiorella went above and beyond to help us plan some of our outings, giving us suggestions on vineyards, tastings, spots with great views, etc. as we had hired a driver for one of our days. Most people rent cars which is what I would suggest as taxis are not always easy to come by. However, 3 sisters celebrating a 40th birthday in Italy meant no driving for us! On my actual birthday, Fiorella created the most beautiful bouquet of flowers while she and the other staff sang "Happy birthday". It brought me to tears! She really truly felt like our fairy godmother and we made sure she knew it!! The owner, Giuseppe, is also very interactive with guests, and helped us out when we were stuck finding a taxi a few times!! He also gave us a bottle of their sparkling rose on my birthday and I just could not have been more appreciative and grateful to have spent my birthday at this resort. Breakfast was fresh and delicious. We opted to dine at the Agriturismo 2 out of our 4 nights and had great dinners with spectacular sunsets. The family golden retriever, Zelda, was a big hit for us being dog lovers and we so enjoyed her company when she came around. We did the vineyard/wine tour and tasting on their property which was fabulous and we have their wine being shipped to us in the U.S. We also rented e-bikes for one of our mornings and their property is so big that the gravel roads were perfect for some Tuscan exploring as it keeps you off the main roads where cars do drive fast! Our room was wonderful, a little hot during the day but the nights cool off so much we slept comfortably with the windows open. Overall, a 10/10 experience and would definitely go back. FIORELLA you're a GEM of a person and we love you!!! Karen, Sarah, and Dora
