The Romanos, a Luxury Collection Resort, Costa Navarino in Romanos, open June – August, October.
Costa Navarino is the southwest Peloponnese answer to a wedding that has outgrown an island, and The Romanos is the flagship inside it.
The resort sits in the Navarino Dunes, olive groves and vineyards running down to a kilometre of golden sand on the Ionian, with the Dunes Course, a Bernhard Langer signature golf course, alongside it and a 4,000 square metre spa behind.
The wedding spaces are genuinely different from one another, which is the point for a multi-day event: the resort gardens, the Great Hall Ballroom, the Anax Lounge, and Dunes Beach itself.
A ceremony on the sand on Friday, an olive-grove dinner on Saturday and a ballroom reception after it is one booking on one estate, and the conference centre next door takes up to 1,600 people if the guest list is enormous.
4 notes of our own.
Navarino Dunes, on a kilometre of Ionian sand in Messenia
Ceremonies in the gardens, the Great Hall Ballroom, Anax Lounge or on Dunes Beach
Bernhard Langer signature golf course and a 4,000 sq m spa on site
The wider resort’s conference centre takes up to 1,600 people
Best held in June, July, August.

Asked along the way.
How many guests can The Romanos hold for a wedding?+
The resort does not publish a single seated wedding number. It offers the gardens, the Great Hall Ballroom, the Anax Lounge and Dunes Beach, and the wider Costa Navarino conference centre takes up to 1,600 people. We plan around 400 as a working estimate.
Why choose Costa Navarino over an island?+
Because a multi-day wedding needs several settings, and here they are all on one estate: beach, olive grove, gardens and ballroom, without moving anyone between properties. On an island that usually means coaches, ferries or a second venue fee.
Which airport should guests use?+
Kalamata (KLX), about 45 minutes by car, which takes summer flights from much of Europe. Athens is roughly four hours by road, so book into Kalamata unless the schedule forces otherwise, and arrange transfers rather than car hire for a large list.
What is there for guests to do?+
The Dunes Course for golfers, the Anazoe spa, the beach and its watersports, and Messenia itself: the Palace of Nestor, the Venetian fortress at Methoni and the town of Pylos are all short drives. It fills a week better than most island resorts.
When is the season here?+
May to October. Messenia is on the Ionian rather than the Aegean side, so the meltemi that dominates Cycladic summers is far less of a factor, which makes a July or August outdoor ceremony a more reasonable bet than it is on Santorini.
