Nizuc LuxuryVillas

We had very high hopes for the Nizuc but were terribly disappointed and will not return. Our room was quite spectacular but it’s quite the schlep to get to the nearest pool or beach and those were overrun with children, so very very far to get to the adults only area. The service in the breakfast restaurant and the Italian was lovely, but we found it lacking—along with the food, which as others have noted, is really really expensive and mediocre. We both had great massages at the spa but at $400 each for 90 minutes we felt pretty ripped off as well. There are pockets of excellent service, William at breakfast, for example. This is a luxury hotel that operates more like a high end Hilton. There is a dress code at the hotel, but it seems we were among the very few people adhering to it. We went one night to its adults only gourmet Mexican restaurant. Not only was the food not very good, but right next to us was a couple in t-shirts, shorts, flip flops and baseball cap despite the dress code calling for “elegant resort attire.” You can almost tell how well run a hotel is by how visible management is, and at Nizuc they are invisible. I can’t recall a luxury hotel we’ve stayed at recently where we didn’t at some point along the way meet the manager. This is a very family friendly hotel. If you are a couple looking for a few quiet days at a nice resort, this is not your place. A word about our room. We were in the master suite with its own pool. it was a very large room, very comfortable, well air conditioned and the pool was delicious! It made our stay tolerable. But not enough to come back.
