Monteverdi Tuscany in Castiglioncello del Trinoro, open June–November.
The most cinematic offer in Tuscany: an entire twelfth-century hilltop village, restored over fifteen years by American lawyer Michael Cioffi and Roman designer Ilaria Miani, that a wedding can take over completely.
Castiglioncello del Trinoro was nearly abandoned when Cioffi began buying it in 2003; the restoration deliberately avoided postcard-Tuscany pastiche, and the result — rooms and village houses along stone lanes, the restaurants Oreade and Zita, a library bar, art gallery, culinary academy and spa — reads like a village that simply never stopped being lived in, elevated.
Ceremonies happen in the Romanesque church of Sant’Andrea, the piazza in front of it, or the lavender gardens; the in-house team caters garden dinners above the full sweep of the Val d’Orcia.
Around thirty keys sleep sixty-some guests.
A village that most of it’s homes renovated into a luxury apartments that are an hotel with all facilities in very high quality. The staff is one of the best we ever experienced. Location is breathtaking. Highly recommended
