Mormoraia is a restored medieval stone farmhouse dating to the 14th century, originally built as an agricultural estate in the heart of Tuscany's San Gimignano wine region.
The property underwent extensive restoration to preserve its historic architecture while introducing modern hospitality amenities, creating a venue that honors centuries of Tuscan heritage.
Set across 12 hectares of vineyards and olive groves, this hotel offers an authentic countryside setting with rooms housed within the original structure and contemporary guest facilities.
Staying at Mormoraia for our honeymoon was such a treat. We really loved staying in the late season, where everything is calmer and you get to see a different side of beautiful Tuscany. The location is unbeatable, close enough from interesting towns and cities (we did Sienna, Lucca, Greve in Chianti, San Gimignano…), and yet slightly off the beaten path, with gorgeous views of the hills and vineyards, and surrounded by olive trees. The different activities that we enjoyed during our stay were amazing as well, especially the spa session - very romantic and cozy. The jacuzzi has the best view, and the steam room and sauna temperatures were adjustable. We also both had massages and the masseuse was skilled, and very professional. I'd like to highlight the fantastic wine tasting experience as well. The hospitality of the people working at the restaurant was a plus - thank you, Christian and Giulia! We had several meals at the restaurant and we really enjoyed them, including soups, meat, fish, pasta… They had a decent variety of options. The breakfast buffet was well sorted, too. The room had a spatious (marble?) shower which I loved, as well as a heated tower rack and other standard amenities. The rest of the room was decent; maybe slightly small and felt a bit cold at times, but the bed was very comfortable. I would suggest looking into deep cleaning the AC/heating unit. Overall, an amazing, unforgettable experience. We can’t wait to come back for our anniversary!
