Monastero San Biagio in Nocera Umbra, open June–September.
Monastero San Biagio stands apart as a working monastery that doubles as a hotel and wedding venue, offering guests an authentic Umbrian experience without sacrificing modern hospitality.
Built into the hillside of Nocera Umbra, the property maintains its medieval character while providing 16 rooms across 36 beds, making it rare among Italian destination venues for on-site accommodation.
Ceremonies happen in the grounds or nearby churches, with receptions held in the monastery's 150-seat restaurant—a space that functions as both dining hall and weather contingency.
Getting married at San Biagio was one of the best decisions we’ve ever made. Everything, literally everything, was above and beyond our expectations. Incredible value for money. Months after our wedding, our guests still send us random texts about how magical this location was. We had an early June weekend wedding, with a welcome aperitivo on Friday and the ceremony on Saturday. Our wonderful wedding planner (and friend, at this point!) Lucia made the planning so easy, and was an absolute star throughout the wedding weekend. Everything was on time and running smoothly (ceremony, food, music, photos..), which made us feel like we could just relax and enjoy the day. Because sustainability was so important for us, she also found a way for us to rent live potted plants and flowers, which looked amazing. The food from Chef Mario was perfect. My husband is a major foodie and as soon as he tried Mario’s creations, we knew this was the perfect wedding venue for us. We requested a vegan/vegetarian menu, which he easily accommodated, and even the meat-lovers among our guests fell in love with his plant-based menu! Our family stayed at the venue for 2 nights, while our other guests came in with a shuttle bus, which Lucia arranged for us. If you are thinking of getting married in Umbria, look no further: this is the place.
