Hotel Tugu Bali sits on Batu Bolong beach in Canggu and holds the Indonesian art collection of Anhar Setjadibrata, who bought the pieces first and built hotels around them afterwards.
The centrepiece is the Bale Sutra, a Kang Xi period Chinese temple roughly 300 years old that was taken down in a Javanese village and rebuilt inside the hotel, painted red, holding an eighteenth-century Guan Yin statue.

What is the Bale Sutra?+
A Chinese temple from the Kang Xi period, about 300 years old, dismantled in a Javanese village and rebuilt in its entirety inside the hotel. The red room holds an eighteenth-century statue of Guan Yin. Small ceremonies and dinners are staged inside it.
How many guests can Hotel Tugu Bali take?+
The Bale Agung, the open hall facing the sea, is quoted at up to 150 guests and is the space large receptions use. The Bale Puputan holds about 15 for an intimate dinner, and the Bale Sutra is used for ceremonies rather than seated receptions.
Can guests stay at the hotel?+
Only a small core. Tugu has 22 suites and villas, so the wedding party sleeps on site and the rest of the list stays in Canggu, Seminyak or Pererenan, all within 10 to 25 minutes. Canggu has a deep supply of villas for exactly this.

How far is the airport?+
Ngurah Rai International (DPS) is about 45 to 60 minutes north, roughly 18 km, and Canggu traffic makes that number unreliable in the late afternoon. Plan guest arrivals for the morning if you can, and never schedule a 5pm airport pickup before a 6pm event.
What time does the music have to stop?+
Batu Bolong is residential and busy, so a late outdoor party is not a given. Ask for the sound curfew and any extension fee in writing before you sign; this is the single most common surprise in Bali venue contracts.
