Hotel Horto Convento Firenze in Firenze, open April–August.
Built in the 15th century as a Benedictine convent, Hotel Horto Convento Firenze has been meticulously restored to preserve its Renaissance architecture while offering modern hospitality.
The property retains original stone walls, vaulted ceilings, and a private courtyard garden that served monks for over 500 years.
Today, it functions as a luxury boutique hotel in Florence's historic center, hosting intimate celebrations within its cloistered grounds.
We stayed at Hotel Horto Convento in February 2026 and had a very pleasant stay overall. From the moment you arrive, the elegant and refined common areas create a calm, charming atmosphere. The reception team was consistently kind, helpful, and professional throughout our stay. The hotel is a bit away from the busiest tourist areas, but Florence is very walkable and most attractions can be reached within 30–40 minutes. The neighborhood feels lively and safe, with very good restaurants nearby, so it worked well as a base for exploring the city. Our room was spacious and thoughtfully laid out, with a well-equipped bathroom and efficient air conditioning which was particularly useful as temperatures during our stay ranged between 3 and 9°C. The bed was large and comfortable, and the room included a fridge, a Nespresso machine with complimentary coffee, and bottled water on arrival. A few minor details to bear in mind: the room lacked a full-length mirror, and the bathroom had very limited counter space for toiletries (toothpaste, razor, makeup, etc.). There was also a noticeable smell in the corridors, somewhat similar to a sewer odor. However, it was never present inside the room and did not affect our stay in any significant way. Breakfast was satisfactory and did its job, though it was not particularly memorable. The hotel also offers a spa, but it is located in a separate building and requires booking a night there to access it, which is not very practical for a short stay. For that reason, we chose not to use it. Overall, a comfortable and charming hotel in a pleasant area, well suited for a relaxing stay while still being within walking distance of Florence’s main sights.
