About Hacienda Temozón Sur
Temozón Sur is the largest of the restored henequen haciendas south of Mérida and the one most couples end up on.
It was a working sisal estate from the seventeenth century, and the machine house, the chimney and the stone arcades are still standing, painted the deep ochre that the Yucatán haciendas share.
There are 28 suites, from small rooms in the old workers’ quarters to a presidential suite that was the owner’s bedroom.
The estate’s own cenote sits under the property with a wooden deck over it, and the spa is built into the rock beside it, so a small ceremony can happen underground by candlelight, which is the thing nobody expects and everybody remembers.

Yes. The estate’s cenote has a wooden deck over the water and is used for small ceremonies and Mayan blessings by candlelight. It is a confined underground space, so it suits an intimate group rather than a full guest list, and access is by stone steps.

Only 28 suites, so no for most weddings. Couples typically put the wedding party at Temozón and block hotels in Mérida, 40 minutes north, running coaches out for the day. Several other restored haciendas nearby also take overflow.

Contested, so check before you book. Google’s record for the property and its booking link both read IHG, while listings for "Hacienda Temozón, A Luxury Collection Hotel" under Marriott are still in circulation. Ask which group takes the reservation and holds the wedding contract.
When is the best time of year in the Yucatán interior?+
April and May are the hottest months and regularly pass 38C inland, which is difficult for an outdoor ceremony.
How far is Temozón from Mérida airport?+
Roughly 40 km and 40 to 45 minutes from Mérida International (MID) on the road toward Uxmal. MID takes direct flights from Miami, Houston, Dallas and Mexico City. Cancún is about four hours east and is not the practical airport for this wedding.
