Four Seasons Resort Hualalai in Kailua-Kona, open June – July, September – October.
Hualalai opened in 1996 at Historic Kaupulehu, on the black lava coast fifteen minutes north of Kona airport, and it is the quietest of the big Hawaii resorts.
There are no towers: 243 rooms sit in two-storey bungalows scattered through gardens and lava fields, and seven pools are spread far enough apart that you can find one to yourself.
King’s Pond is the one guests remember, 1.8 million gallons cut into the lava and stocked with reef fish you can swim with.
Ceremonies happen on the bluff at the Wedding Tree, which holds about 30, or on the lawns and the eighteenth fairway when the guest list is larger.

Figures are estimates, modeled from regional rates and public sources, not a quote from the venue. Once the venue claims this page, their own rates take precedence.
Asked along the way.
How many guests can Four Seasons Hualalai host for a wedding?+
The resort publishes package tiers rather than a seated maximum, so there is no single published number. The Wedding Tree bluff site holds about 30, and larger ceremonies move to the lawns and the eighteenth fairway. We have set 150 as a working ceiling from comparable resort lawn sites; confirm it for your date.
What do the wedding packages cost?+
Published prices start at $12,500 for the Ke Aloha package for up to 20 guests, $13,500 for Pili a Hualalai and $21,500 for Wai Maoli o Hualalai. Catering, accommodation and anything beyond the package inclusions are quoted separately.
Can our guests stay on the property?+
Yes, and most do. There are 243 rooms and suites across the resort, plus residences on the Hualalai estate. The resort charges no resort fee, which is unusual in Hawaii and worth pointing out to guests comparing rates.
Which island is Hualalai on and how do guests reach it?+
Hawaii Island, the Big Island, on the Kona side. Ellison Onizuka Kona International Airport is about 15 minutes south of the resort gate and takes direct mainland flights as well as connections through Honolulu.
How do we get legally married in Hawaii?+
Both of you apply in person to a state-appointed marriage licence agent with photo identification. There is no waiting period, no residency requirement and no blood test, and the licence is valid for 30 days from issue anywhere in the state.
What is the weather like on the Kona coast?+
Dry and hot most of the year, since this is the leeward side and the lava fields hold the heat. Rain is rare and brief. Afternoon light is strong, so late-afternoon ceremonies photograph better than midday ones.
