We booked a week in this hotel back in May (for September). When we started to read the reviews, we were very worried, so we called the hotel to ask them about the points raised by other guests. They said they had had some problems when it was full, but that everything was sorted out and that the hotel would only be 30% full when we came. We arrived and the man at reception was very cold and unfeeling. Did not ask how we were or how our journey had been. Just very odd. A lovely young man named George took us and our luggage to our room and showed us how everything worked. George was LOVELY. The room was nice - we had a junior suite with a private pool. The pool was small, more sort of jacuzzi size, but we didn't mind that. We only got in it once because it was freezing cold. Which is a shame and a bit of a waste of money. The TV did not work, but when we mentioned it to George at breakfast he said he would look, and when we got back later that afternoon it was working. George to the rescue again! Breakfast was well stocked - a nice selection of foods. A bit odd to have cordial rather than fresh juice though. The young lady that served us every morning for coffee was a delight. The only problem was, that to get to the breakfast area from our room we had to walk past the kitchen, where the lady that makes the coffees and the one that replenishes the food were usually smoking - not a great impression. The main areas are really nicely designed and clean. The pool was, again, freezing, hardly anyone every got in it. It needs to be heated a little! But it was nice to sit around it. I can imagine that this hotel would struggle when it is full up, but it has the potential to be so amazing. It needs an experienced hotelier to go in and make it a true 5 star experience, because at the moment, it is not. Apart from George and the lovely girl at breakfast (who wouldn't even take a tip at the end of our stay - she insisted that we put it in the tip jar on the bar) the staff lack the finesse to make this a 5 star experience. It was not a cheap stay, and there are some nice hotels in Paros for a fraction of the price. (I also came home covered in some odd bites - so maybe the bed bugs got me too)
