I recently had the pleasure of staying with my girlfriend at Alsus Boutique Hotel in Crete for 11 nights, and overall, our experience were quite positive. Here are the highlights and areas for improvement based on my time there: Positive Aspects: Room Design: The room design was modern and elegant, creating a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere. Room Service: The room service was prompt, efficient, and always carried out with a friendly and professional attitude. Service: We had the pleasure of being served by Laura, a young girl and a very nice, kind and professional waitress with an excellent level of English. Restaurant: The food served at the hotel’s restaurant was of high quality, with a variety of delicious dishes that consistently exceeded expectations. Green Environment: The hotel’s lush surroundings added to the tranquility of the stay, offering a peaceful retreat within nature. Dining Room: The dining room was pleasant and well-maintained, offering a comfortable space to enjoy meals. Proximity to the Sea: The hotel’s location is ideal, being very close to the sea, making it convenient for those looking to enjoy the beach and coastal views. Areas for Improvement: Soundproofing: The main road where the hotel is located is very busy and the rooms are not very soundproofed or at least ours was not (you could hear a deafening chorus of dogs barking and a rooster in the morning) Cleanliness Issues: Unfortunately, I encountered some cleanliness issues during my stay. The bathrobe provided was not properly cleaned and had to be replaced twice. Additionally, both the coffee spoons and wine glasses (particularly the red wine glass) appeared to have only been rinsed with water and not properly cleaned, which was disappointing. Service: We did notice, however, that when an old waitress was on duty, the breakfast service felt somewhat rushed, and there was a lack of warmth in her interactions. A smile and a bit more kindness would have made the experience feel more welcoming. On the other hand, when she wasn’t present, the team seemed to work with more harmony and attention to detail, which made for a more enjoyable experience. Perhaps a little more consistency in approach would benefit the service overall. Breakfast Offerings: The breakfast, while adequate, was not particularly remarkable and could benefit from greater variety. Despite informing the hotel of my dietary preferences via email prior to my arrival, there were limited vegan options available. Unfortunately, I never received a response to my inquiry regarding the special diet. Breakfast Buffet Replenishment: Although the breakfast buffet was advertised to be available until 11:00 AM, I found that on several occasions (around 10:15-10:30 AM), the buffet was running low on food, and items were not promptly replenished. Pool Temperature: The pool, while beautifully maintained, was quite cold, especially considering the recent renovation of the hotel. I understand that it was October, but it would have been ideal if the pool had a heating system to ensure a more comfortable experience for guests, particularly during the cooler months. Overall, we had a wonderful stay at Alsus Boutique Hotel. With just a few adjustments and attention to these details, I believe the hotel could easily become an even more outstanding destination. Thank you to the entire team for making our stay so pleasant – we’d be happy to return with some of these improvements in mind!
