The Poseidonion has stood on the Dapia waterfront on Spetses since 1914, built by the benefactor Sotirios Anargyros as a Belle Époque hotel for the Athenian families who summered on the island, and it has been the place they hold their weddings ever since.
The building is the venue: a long seafront verandah facing the harbour, high-ceilinged salons behind it, and the town of Spetses starting at the front door.
Cars are largely banned on the island, so guests move by horse-drawn carriage, water taxi and moped, which does more for a wedding weekend than any styling budget.

I wanted to get a pedicure and this hotel offers a handful of services in their spa. The ladies were kind and helpful. The place is neat and the vibe is clean. They have a huge range of colors.I would definitely go again.

The hotel publishes two meeting rooms for up to 70 people. Larger wedding receptions use the seafront verandah and the gardens, and we plan around 200 as an upper estimate. Ask the hotel for the figure attached to the spaces you want.
How do guests get to Spetses?+
There is no airport. Most guests fly into Athens, transfer to Piraeus in about 45 minutes by car, and take a ferry that runs in roughly two hours. The alternative is to drive to Kosta in the Peloponnese and cross by water taxi in around ten minutes.
Can guests get around the island?+
Private cars are largely banned on Spetses. Guests use horse-drawn carriages, water taxis, mopeds and bicycles, and the hotel is on the main waterfront, so most of the town is a walk away. Factor carriages into the wedding-day logistics.
What is the history of the hotel?+
It opened in 1914 as the project of Sotirios Anargyros and became the summer meeting point for Athenian society, hosting receptions on its verandah for over a century. The building was restored and reopened in 2009 after a long closure.

May to early October. The island is closest to Athens of the venues on this list, so it also works for a wedding where half the guests are Greek and travelling for a weekend rather than a week.
