J. Paul Getty bought it in 1960 and filled it with the Renaissance furniture, tapestries and marble that are still in the rooms, and when the builders found a Roman villa underneath it, he had a museum built in the basement rather than moving the walls.
It is a hotel of nineteen rooms run by Pellicano Hotels, and it takes about 130 guests for a wedding across the salons, the loggia and the lawn that runs to the sea.
The pitch is specific: the interiors do the work, so a dinner in these rooms needs almost no flowers, and the beach is at the end of the garden rather than an excursion.
