This lovely hotel is just inside San Gimigniano’s town gate in a couple of medieval buildings on the main route to the town centre. Consequently, this road is very busy with tour groups on foot but not cars - most vehicles are excluded from the walled town. The whole town becomes less crowded after the tour groups have gone and it’s a great place to walk around in the evening - the hotel is close to the centre. We decided to upgrade to a room with a countryside view, and we were very pleased that we did: the view was sensational, particularly in the morning, with the sun rising and the mist clearing. It was also quiet at all times. The room itself was comfortable and spacious, with a decent shower room. Breakfast is in the restaurant, which is at the back of the hotel and has a great view over the countryside. There’s a wide choice of cheese, ham, salami, bread, croissants, sweet pastries, and you can ask for eggs to be made in whatever way you want. The restaurant (under separate management) is also very good. Last but not least, the staff are all very helpful and friendly.
