Domaine de Fontenille in Lauris, open April–August.
Domaine de Fontenille rises from the Luberon Valley in Provence, commanding panoramic views across lavender fields and limestone hills that shift through golden afternoon light.
This 18th-century estate, perched at 400 meters elevation, anchors itself in 15 hectares of cultivated grounds where rows of grapevines and Mediterranean gardens frame every sightline.
The hotel venue merges authentic stone architecture with contemporary service, creating a base for multi-day celebrations rooted in authentic Provençal landscape.
We had dinner at the restaurant. Food was ok, not spectacular. Service was very slow. We had to wait a long time between starter and main which lost the flow of what could have been a great experience. The waiter had too many tables so he never came to refill wine or water. We had to be calling him everything we needed anything. The place is lovely but is is definitely overrated. With so many wonderful and beautiful places in the Provence, you can miss this one.
