Penha Longa Resort
Linhó, Lisboa · Resort
A 14th-century monastery estate in the Sintra hills, run as a Ritz-Carlton resort with 194 rooms and two golf courses inside the Sintra-Cascais Natural Park. The monastery is the reason to marry here. Its chapel, cloisters and vaulted halls sit apart from the modern hotel, so a ceremony in the chapel and dinner under the stone arches of the Arcos Room happen in buildings six centuries older than the bedrooms. For a bigger party the Coroa Ballroom seats up to 300 and opens onto a staircase built for an entrance. The resort lists 28 event spaces and runs its own catering company, which is why it takes Indian weddings and three-day programmes that most Portuguese venues turn down. Two honest caveats. This is a working five-star resort with golf, spa and conference business alongside you, so exclusive use is negotiated rather than assumed, and the 30-minute drive from Lisbon airport becomes closer to 50 on a Friday evening.

Conrad Algarve
Quinta do Lago, Faro · Hotel
The largest ballroom in this collection sits inside a modern white hotel at the edge of Quinta do Lago, the golf and beach estate that draws most of the Algarve’s international money. The ballroom seats up to 300 with daylight down one side, and the gardens, terraces and pool deck take the ceremony and the drinks. Quinta do Lago itself bought the hotel and reopened it in March 2026 after a refurbishment that added a new bar designed by Bryan O’Sullivan Studio, so the interiors are current rather than 2012. What Conrad is for is the wedding that is too big for a quinta and too formal for a beach club: a Saturday for 200 to 300 people who want air conditioning, a proper dance floor, one bill and a hotel to sleep in. What it is not is old. There is no chapel, no vineyard and no 400-year-old anything. Ten minutes away, the Quinta do Lago estate has the lake, the beach at Praia do Ancão and a boardwalk that photographs well at the end of the day.

Quinta dos Vales
Estômbar, Faro · Hotel
Quinta dos Vales stands apart in the Algarve for its working wine estate integrated directly into the wedding experience, guests don't just visit a venue, they celebrate on active vineyards with on-site production facilities. This hotel venue in Estômbar combines operational authenticity with polished hospitality, offering couples the rare advantage of exclusive wine pairings from their own estate production. The property's dual function as both working quinta and event space creates a distinctly Portuguese agricultural backdrop unavailable at typical hotel venues.

Bela Vista Hotel & Spa
Praia da Rocha, Faro · Hotel
A private villa built in 1918 on the rocks above Praia da Rocha, opened as the Algarve’s first hotel in 1934 and now a 38-room Relais & Châteaux property with a Michelin-starred restaurant. The original palacete is the wedding venue: stained glass, carved wood, tiled floors and a terrace that hangs over the beach, with the Atlantic filling the frame in every direction. Two later buildings, the Casa Azul facing the sand and the Garden House behind, hold the rest of the rooms. Vista, the restaurant, has held a Michelin star for over a decade. Bela Vista is adults-only and small, and it does not publish a wedding capacity, which tells you what it is for: a wedding of 20 to 60 people who take most of the hotel, eat extremely well, and use the terrace at sunset rather than a ballroom. If your guest list is 150, this is the wrong door. If it is 40 and you want the best dinner in the Algarve with the sea underneath it, this is close to the only door.
