The provenance is the first thing anyone mentions and the least interesting part.
What matters for a wedding is that it is one of very few Tulum properties with both a real beach and enough rooms to hold a guest list: 71 suites, from garden rooms to beachfront, plus a beach club, a rooftop spa and several restaurants.

Overall, my stay at this hotel left a very pleasant impression — I would rate it 5 stars, especially considering the excellent value for money during the low season.

How many guests can Casa Malca hold?+
The hotel’s own wedding materials put the ceiling around 200 guests, and some third-party listings say 150. Aisle records 20 to 200. Above roughly 120 you are effectively taking the whole property, so ask about a buyout at the same time as the venue fee.
Was Casa Malca really Pablo Escobar’s house?+
The building was a beachfront mansion linked to Escobar before it was abandoned and later bought and reopened by the art dealer Lio Malca. The hotel does not trade on the story beyond acknowledging it, and the art collection is the thing guests actually remember.
Can all our guests stay on site?+
There are 71 suites, which covers most wedding parties. Rates range widely between garden rooms and beachfront suites. Full buyouts are available and are the practical route for a large wedding, because the beach club is otherwise open to hotel guests.
What does a Casa Malca wedding cost?+

How do guests get to the Tulum hotel zone?+
Cancún International (CUN) is about two hours by road. Tulum’s own airport, Felipe Carrillo Puerto (TQO), opened in December 2023 and is roughly 30 minutes away, with a growing list of US routes. The hotel road itself is single lane in each direction, so plan group transport.
Is sargassum an issue on this beach?+
It can be, mostly between April and August, and no Tulum hotel fully controls it. Casa Malca clears daily. If a clean shoreline matters to the photographs, the reliable window on this coast is November through March.
