Bed & Breakfast Castello Di Belforte in Todi, open JuneSeptember.

Castello Di Belforte dates back centuries as a fortified medieval stronghold in Umbria, Italy, serving as both defensive fortress and aristocratic residence.

The property has undergone meticulous restoration to preserve its original stone architecture and period details while accommodating modern hospitality.

Today it operates as a luxury bed & breakfast within the castle's historic walls, offering couples an authentic Italian palazzo experience for destination celebrations.

Thank you for a warm welcome, you made my stay pleasant. I offer these friendly suggestions in the spirit of helping the property reach its full potential. Guest comfort • Bedding & bed frame: The mattress and sheets felt uncomfortable and the frame clicked when I moved. Consider replacing the mattress or adding a good topper, switching to breathable cotton sheets, and tightening or replacing the frame to eliminate noise. This will immediately improve sleep quality for guests. • Small bedside rug: Adding a small rug beside the bed would make the cold brick floor much more pleasant first thing in the morning. Room ambience • Lighting: Most bulbs are very cool (daylight) and feel harsh. Replace with warm-tone bulbs and add at least one dimmer or a lamp so guests can soften the light in the evening, this makes rooms feel cozier and less “institutional.” • A focal point: The room could benefit from a cozy focal point (a small electric fireplace or an attractive electric heater, or even a tasteful decorative “fake” fireplace). It doesn’t need to be large; the goal is to encourage guests to relax in the room rather than feeling they must stay bundled up. Practical fixes • Roof / water runoff: Rain poured directly in front of my door during heavy rain and kept me awake. Installing an eavestrough/gutter or redirecting runoff would prevent water at the door and improve guest safety and comfort. • Hooks & storage: Add a few wall hooks or a small rack so guests can hang coats and towels. Amenities • Shower soap / basic toiletries: Provide small, refillable soap/shampoo dispensers or single-use toiletries. Guests expect at least basic soap. • Wi-Fi: Reliable Wi-Fi is essential; it barely worked and took me an hour just to look up a place to eat. Breakfast • Freshness & variety: The breakfast was fine but could be improved with a few fresher options
