The fine print

Hiring a wedding planner in Phuket, Thailand

What a local planner can help with

Ask a planner about work in the area, languages, supplier relationships, and the tasks they can handle. Compare that scope with what your venue coordinator includes.

What to budget

Ask whether the fee is fixed, a percentage, or based on services. Confirm travel, taxes, extra events, supplier commissions, and payment dates.

Questions to ask before booking

How many weddings have you planned in this specific area? Do you handle legal paperwork and permits? What's your vendor network like? Will you be present on the wedding day? How do you handle communication across time zones? What's your contingency plan for weather or vendor no-shows?

When to book

Contact planners early if you want help finding the venue. If your venue is booked, explain which decisions you have made and where you need support.

What marrying in Thailand actually requires

Foreign couples can marry legally in Thailand, and the paperwork is the part a planner earns their fee on. You need an affidavit of freedom to marry from your own embassy or consulate, translated into Thai and certified, alongside passports, birth certificates and divorce decrees where they apply. Allow two to three weeks and $500 to $1,500 for translations and fees. You can also hold the ceremony in Phuket and complete the legal marriage at home, which removes the bureaucratic wait and leaves the ceremony timing and location open. Ask any planner you shortlist which of the two they are quoting for, because it changes the timetable more than any other decision you make.

What the day costs before the planner fee

Aisle's cost index models venue and catering for 80 guests in Thailand at $4,400 to $8,300, on a per-guest band of $45 to $85, with a ceremony fee of $800 to $1,500 and guest lodging at $80 to $200 a night. These are modeled per-venue estimates across the 66 Thailand venues on Aisle, generated 2026-06-27, not quotes and not figures from booked weddings, and they describe Thailand as a whole rather than Phuket on its own. A planner's own fee sits on top of all of it and is quoted separately.

The season you are booking around

Phuket's wedding season runs November to February, when it is cool and dry and conditions suit an outdoor ceremony. March to May is hot, workable with an early morning or late afternoon ceremony. June to October is the rainy season: lower prices and fewer people, but you need a covered option and a planner who will build one in rather than hope. Luxury resorts take 12 to 18 months to book for peak dates and boutique venues 8 to 12, so the planner is the first booking you make, not the last.

Getting your guests there

Phuket International Airport (HKT) is 20 to 45 minutes from the Phuket beaches, close enough for guests to reach a beach hotel the same evening they land. From the United States the flight runs 18 to 22 hours with one or two connections, so build a recovery day into the schedule and expect people to arrive tired. A planner working here should be arranging group transfers from HKT as a matter of course; ask what it costs per car before you assume the resort has it covered.
