Villa Igiea, a Rocco Forte hotel in Palermo.
Villa Igiea stands apart as Palermo's only Belle Époque palace hotel directly overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea, offering a rare combination of 19th-century architectural grandeur with contemporary luxury that few Sicilian venues can match.
Built in 1899 and recently restored by Rocco Forte, this clifftop property provides dramatic Mediterranean views and direct beach access—eliminating the need for separate ceremony and reception venues.
The hotel's 61 rooms and suites mean guests never leave the property, creating an immersive destination experience.
We just came back from a lovely 5 day stay at Villa Igiea. The service has been thoughtful and thorough throughout. For example, Housekeeping saw that I left my glasses in the bathroom and protected them with a microfiber cleaning cloth. And all wires we left out in the room were neatly organized with velcro tie down straps. Location wise, nothing beats waking up to the view of the ocean. However it should be noted that it’s not very walkable immediately outside the hotel. We typically call an Uber or take their shuttle into the city center, which runs every hour between 10a-7:30p. I wish the shuttle could be reserved for a much later time, like 9 or 10pm in the future! As that’s when we usually finish dinner if eating out. In any case it is not too inconvenient. It takes about 15-20 mins from hotel to city center, depending on traffic. Last but not least, I highly recommend their breakfast buffet and menu items. A lovely spread of greens, fruits, yogurt, cheeses, and local pastries. The eggs are always perfectly cooked. I personally thought the cannoli was the best one I had in all of Palermo. Not too sweet, very light, and the pastry perfectly fresh! PS there was also a lovely orange cat near the porch of the bar. Wish we saw more of him!
