Thornewood Castle rises from 6.5 acres of manicured grounds in Lakewood, Washington, offering sweeping views across gardens, ponds, and mature landscaping.
The brick and stone structure dates to 1927 and commands the property with period architecture, multiple indoor spaces, and outdoor terraces overlooking the surrounding woodland.
Guests arrive at a destination that functions as both ceremony venue and overnight hotel, eliminating logistics from the wedding day.
I wanted to start off by saying the grounds and location are beautiful. The staff however were not very impressive. My mom the first night she got there fell down the stairs and all the staff did was give her some ice…. They didn’t check on her throughout the time she was there for my wedding. The day of my wedding they had tours booked!! Luckily two of them canceled, but that prevented my bridal party and I (the bride) to get into the bridal suite to get ready in the morning…. Then towards the end of the night, when things were getting cleaned up. My wedding planner told us that the staff put our desserts in the refrigerator. NOT ONE staff member told us where the refrigerator was. Come the morning we’re supposed to leave. My husband fell down the wooden stairs. And bruised his arm really badly and no staff was there to assist. Which is shameful. Here’s the big kicker our sweets that we paid over 800$ for that were in the refrigerator. That no staff member told us where it was or even showed us. We’re thrown out….. with out even reaching out to us. To tell us hey we have your wedding desserts. My husband and I were in Seattle for awhile before we went back home. We could have easily gone back and gotten them. But no the shamefully poor staff didn’t think to do that. Instead with out telling us threw out our desserts. I only found out they did that via email. Because I reached out asking what they did with our desserts. I am extremely disappointed with the staff at Thornewood castle. I didn’t pay an arm and a leg to get half assed help. Thanks but no thanks won’t be recommending you to anyone to have a wedding at your location. Unless then want zero help.
