A working family vineyard in the hills above Mafra, 45 minutes north of Lisbon, where the wedding happens among the things the farm actually does.
The ceremony is held outside with the vines falling away below, drinks are in the courtyard, and dinner is in the barrel room or the hall beside it, poured from the estate’s own bottles.
The baroque chapel with its bell tower and azulejo panels is on the property and is used for religious ceremonies.
Guest houses on the estate sleep roughly 50, so the wedding party wakes up on site and the rest come out from Mafra, Ericeira or Lisbon.

Can our guests sleep on the estate?+
The quinta’s guest houses sleep roughly 50 people, which normally covers the wedding party and immediate family. Everyone else stays in Mafra, Ericeira or Lisbon, between 20 and 45 minutes away, with coaches out and back.
Is the chapel available for a religious ceremony?+
The estate has a baroque chapel with a bell tower and tiled interior used for ceremonies. Catholic weddings need the parish to agree and paperwork lodged in advance, so ask the family what the current diocesan process is.
When is the best time of year to marry here?+
May to early October is the reliable outdoor window. September weddings land in the middle of harvest, which is the estate at its best to look at and its busiest to run, so lock the date early if that is what you want.
How do guests get there and back?+
Gradil is 45 minutes from Lisbon airport by car on country roads with no useful train. Above about 60 guests a coach for the return leg is the difference between a party that ends well and a car park full of people waiting for taxis.
