Panviman Chiang Mai SpaResort

We arrived in Chiang Mai, northern Thailand, aiming to stay in the mountains. Instead of using our usual domestic branded Uber, we booked a “Grab” taxi and negotiated a reasonable fare with our driver before heading up a picturesque mountain road for about an hour. Our destination was Panviman Resort, a hidden retreat nestled in the Chiang Mai Mountains. The resort’s stunning Thai architecture is thoughtfully integrated into the natural contours of the surrounding hills, preserving as much jungle foliage as possible and making the lush landscape an integral part of the experience. The area teems with trees, flowers, and waterfalls, creating an ideal environment. We discovered a meditation retreat that begins by the pool and continues along a trail to the spa area, with several serene spots carved into the hillside specifically for meditation. Some rooms are built directly into the cliffs; you’ll have to see my photos to appreciate this fully. The spa area is exceptionally clean, quiet, and peaceful. Of all the resorts we visited on our trip, Panviman offered the best value for amenities like couple’s massages. Set on a mountain slope, the resort overlooks numerous flower farms in the valley below. At night, these farms are beautifully illuminated with lights designed to aid the flowers’ growth—a striking sight from any of the restaurant’s four outdoor decks staggered at different levels around the kitchen area. The restaurant serves excellent food, offering both a breakfast buffet and a full dinner menu. The staff were consistently kind and courteous; everyone from the front desk to the gardeners greeted us warmly. The pool complex features a large hot-water pool, a children’s pool just beside it, and both cascade into the main pool. I am guessing it is spring-fed water at the main pool because it can feel brisk, but the setting is refreshing. There’s a food and beverage bar by the pool, towel room showers nearby, and an exercise pagoda thoughtfully tucked into the jungle just a short walk away. We enjoyed our reservations very much and even added extra nights.
