Mansions onFifth

I hate to write a negative review, but my experience at Mansions on Fifth was so disappointing that I would not want another guest to endure the same situation. I reserved a king room and, upon arrival, immediately noticed that it was hot and stuffy. The temperature was 76 degrees, so I lowered the thermostat to 69 degrees and expected the air conditioning to begin cooling the room. After 30 minutes, nothing changed. I called the front desk and explained the situation. I was told that it could take hours for the room to cool down. I requested a fan and was initially told that one would be provided. After waiting another hour, I called again and was informed that no fans were available. By 2:00 a.m., the room temperature had climbed to nearly 80 degrees. Unable to sleep and extremely uncomfortable, I went down to the reception desk. Fortunately, a new night clerk was on duty. He was sympathetic, brought a fan to my room within 10 minutes, and upon entering said, “It really is hot and humid in here.” Unfortunately, by that point the damage had already been done. I checked out at 4:30 a.m. because I was so uncomfortable that I could not sleep. The most frustrating part of this experience was not simply the malfunctioning air conditioning, but the lack of urgency in addressing a basic comfort issue for a paying guest. I appreciate the compassion and professionalism of the night clerk, but overall, this was a very disappointing experience and not one I would choose to repeat.
