La Tonnarella in Sorrento, open MayAugust.

La Tonnarella occupies a 19th-century villa that once served as a fisherman's residence on the Sorrentine Peninsula, later transformed into a luxury hotel while preserving its original coastal architecture.

The building retains period stonework and terraced gardens that cascade toward the Tyrrhenian Sea, offering 42 rooms across its restored structure.

This clifftop property combines Mediterranean history with modern hospitality, hosting celebrations in spaces where traditional tuna fishing operations once dominated the coastline.

My wife and I really enjoyed our 3-night stay here. We visited in late September and had great weather. The hotel is nicely decorated and we loved our terrace balcony with a great view of the bay. We also enjoyed the hotel breakfast. We did not make too much use of the beach but it is pretty rocky down there so I would recommend bringing some water shoes or flip flops. We also had dinner one night at the restaurant and the food and service was fantastic.
