We have a winner! This absolute gem of a hotel is without a doubt the best hotel in Palermo and all of Sicily. It gets top marks in all categories. Il Giardino di Ballaro Boutique Hotel is truly a work of art -- in its thoughtful (and stylish) design, peaceful ambience, and warm-hearted hospitality. When I first stepped into its warm and inviting lobby, I instantly felt like I'd found my home away from home in Palermo -- it was perfect. Being so graciously greeted by the staff (even though I'd accidentally arrived a day early!), I knew from the start that this hotel had it all. I stayed in multiple rooms for my extended stay, so I can verify that their rooms of different sizes and categories are all exceedingly cozy and unique -- the stunning suite I stayed in had a gorgeous high white wooden-beamed ceiling, while the attic room had a very cool skylight that opens with a remote control (and automatically closes itself when it rains!). The comfy beds and bedding feel like a giant hug -- you can't help but enjoy a very deep and relaxing slumber. I also love the location -- within walking distance to all the main sites (through a stunning park!), but also a bit removed from all the tourist mayhem. Even though I'm not usually a morning person, I went to bed at night excited to wake up for their delicious breakfast spread. From fresh cooked eggs and delectable bruschetta to Sicilian sweets like tarallucci (soft, airy Italian lemon cookies that melt in your mouth!) and pistacchio croissant-like donuts, you'll find plenty of goodies to feast on to power you through long days of sightseeing. This locally-owned hotel, the embodiment of authentic charm and genuine hospitality, is the way travel is meant to be in its purest form: considerate, intimate, and full of ease. The staff went above and beyond to make all of my Palermo travel dreams come true. I've been fortunate to stay in the finest hotels around the world in around eighty countries, and I now count Il Giardino di Ballarò Boutique Hotel as one of my top favorite hotels in the world. I don't usually return to a city after I've left it, but now I'm planning on returning to Palermo just to stay again in this special oasis of tranquility!
