We had an important meeting in Mandello and had to find a hotel quickly over Whitsun (nearly everything around Mandello was fully booked!) and were lucky enough to find the Al Verde. The directions to the hotel were sent to us in advance by email - this description is absolutely clear and helps a lot for the last few hundred to the hotel. The hotel itself is situated next to a tunnel in a beautiful mountain valley - but the windows are very well insulated so that the tunnel does not disturb. The hotel is 'inward looking' indeed a bit too clairaudiently - you could e.g. hear the other guests on the way to the room through the closed door of the room. Our room was small but relatively newly renovated, simply furnished, but very clean. The balcony and air conditioning were very pleasant. The parking lot is very large and both cars and motorcycles can be parked here safely and free of charge. The staff were extremely friendly and very helpful. The food in the hotel was good and significantly better than in much more expensive locations on Lake Como that we have visited. That explains why also a lot of locals are going to this site for lunch and dinner - and obviously enjoyed it as well. The combination of cleanliness, friendliness, food and value for money make the Al Verde a simple but highly recommended hotel for us.
