01 · In a sentence

Hotel Chinzanso Tokyo in Bunkyo, open June, August – September, December.

Chinzanso is a garden with a hotel attached, and the garden is the reason to come.

It has been landscaped since the Meiji era, it holds a three-storey pagoda moved here from Hiroshima Prefecture, a waterfall, and roughly 100 cherry trees and 1,000 camellias, and in summer the grounds are flooded with an artificial sea of mist that has become the property signature.

The hotel is large: 260 rooms, 36 banquet halls, five wedding facilities, and the Grand Hall Tsubaki seats 770.

That range means it takes a six-person family lunch and a 300-guest reception with equal ease.

07 · Questions

Asked along the way.

How many guests can Hotel Chinzanso Tokyo hold?+

Anything from six to several hundred. The hotel runs 36 banquet halls and five wedding facilities, and the Grand Hall Tsubaki seats 770, so the constraint on your day is the room you pick rather than the property.

What does a wedding at Chinzanso cost?+

The hotel publishes package prices: Japanese-style from 1,760,000 yen for six guests and 2,365,000 yen for 20, Western-style from 1,815,000 yen for six. Those cover ceremony, three outfits, 400 digital photographs, hair and makeup, the room, food, drink and two nights in a suite.

Does Chinzanso support couples who do not speak Japanese?+

Yes. It launched a wedding plan aimed specifically at overseas couples, with English-language support through the planning and on the day, which is unusual among Tokyo garden venues of this size.

Can guests stay at the hotel?+

Yes, there are 260 rooms on the property, so a wedding party can stay above the garden it married in. Bunkyo is a quiet residential district, so guests who want the neon are 15 minutes away by taxi rather than downstairs.

When is the garden at its best?+

Late March and early April for the cherry trees, November for the maples, and June to September for the mist, which the hotel releases over the grounds on a schedule. Camellias carry the winter, and the pagoda photographs well in any of them.

How far is it from the airports?+

Roughly 40 minutes by car from Haneda and 80 to 100 minutes from Narita, traffic depending. Edogawabashi station on the Yurakucho line is a ten-minute walk, which is the cheap way in for guests staying elsewhere in Tokyo.
