This is a truly lovely hotel. It is housed in a very old building converted and renovated so very tastefully. The service is impeccable and the restaurants sublime. As such it pains me to mark down to four instead of five stars but for very specific reasons. The position of the building is in the centre of a beautiful pedestrianised area on a lovely old cobbled square but the upshot is that driving to the hotel is a palaver and one can't drive to closer than 300 metres. The hotel mitigate brilliantly but arrive in the rain, with lots of luggage and its just not ideal. The second issue is the annoying and ill thought through wiring and tech in the otherwise huge and comfortably decorated room. At night the only place to get remotely decent lighting is the bathroom. There is no ceiling or wall lights but two subdued globes by the bed, a dim table lamp by a desk and little penlight spots. My wife resorted to opening all the wardrobe doors to try to add to the light by their internal illumination! The only two available electric sockets anywhere are in a small box across the room from the bed. Two people with phones and laptops to charge are challenged and can't charge anything overnight anywhere near the bed. The WiFi is limited to three log ins and resets every few hours which is a constant irritation. The availability of tv channels is woeful with news/current affairs only. These are small gripes in an otherwise wonderful experience of an hotel to which I shall gladly return. Irritatingly there is little that can be done to address any (other that proper normal universal wifi) short of the next refit. The bar is particularly worth a visit for decor and the staff exemplary in their professionalism and welcome.
